It's a plot of land that doesn't look like much now, filled with trees and vines, but the land between Front Street and the Susquehanna River will soon be home to permanent affordable housing for veterans.Organizers said the need for these kinds of villages is immense.

Naples said their program is different because there isn't a time limit on how long veterans can take advantage of the services they offer. Naples said the veterans village will have a support center in the middle of it. That center will help connect vets with personalized services that they need. Whether it's health care through the V.A., mental health services, or job training and civilian re-entry programs.

The organization says it helped 3,300 veterans last year alone. It's also working to to build additional villages in places like Las Vegas, Memphis, and Denver.
