New water truck unveiled in Tooele County expected to help crews keep homes safe

In just a week a new water tanker will be introduced to crews at the North Tooele Fire District — something fire officials said is essential to keeping homes along the wildland interface safe.

After an application process, the North Tooele Fire District was given a water tender from the Bureau of Land Management.“These trucks are upwards of $250-300,000 new,” Smith said. “A department in a rural county such as us, we just don’t have the finances available.”“It’s vital to collaborate with agencies like the BLM who are generous enough to pass this stuff on to us when they are done with it,” he said.Collaborations here are win-win.
