The pioneering businesswoman from Paris, Texas, is remembered for her resilience, positivity and community involvement.At 4 foot 10 inches tall, Terry was known as a tiny but mighty force in high-end Dallas real estate.
Todd Terry, Ellen’s son, worked in real estate with his mom at Briggs Freeman and used to call her a “little Napoleon” because of her height and tenacity.“She was a trendsetter,” Todd said. “She was a fabulous mentor. She was an exceptional motivator of people. And she was a great mom.”Ellen didn’t start her career until her late thirties and was driven into real estate out of a need to support her two kids, Todd and Amy Terry Kriegel, as a single mother.
“She truly had zero fear,” Amy said. “And women were not supposed to be that brash and capable, especially women as tiny as she was.”Loved ones and colleagues remember Ellen for her incredible work ethic, can-do attitude and positive affirmations. Amy said her mom was a big believer in the motto ‘whatever you can conceive and believe you can achieve.’ Todd remembers her mantra, ‘All things are possible.
