The meeting came after the Israeli army said that it approved operational plans for an offensive against Lebanon's Hezbollah group which has sent both surveillance and attack drones into Israel in the last eight months, as it exchanges fire with the Israeli occupation forces in parallel with Tel Aviv's genocidal war on Gaza.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made the remarks during a phone call with European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, according to a statement by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry. "Those comments were deeply disappointing and certainly vexing to us, given the amount of support that we have and will continue to provide," National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told journalists.

The announcement comes a day after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned the administration against allowing Israel to use its bases in the event of a wider war.
