The property was ransacked and more than £40,000 of designer goods were taken

A West Bridgford father-of-three watched helplessly on a phone app as burglars ransacked his home while he was on holiday with his young family. Nottingham Crown Court heard how a notification alerted the victim to the break-in which saw a gang steal £41,000 of designer goods and electronic devices.

Alex Wolfson, prosecuting, said the break-in took place in Albert Road, during the early hours of August 19, 2021. He said two masked men climbed up a pipe to smash a window to gain entry to the house before making “an untidy search” of the entire upstairs and stealing thousands of pounds of items. “The crown accepts this defendant’s role was as the driver and that the van circled around the area while the burglary was taking place and was used to take the stolen goods away. A high-value coat was dropped while they were leaving through the back garden.”
