As more than 1.3 million hectares of land has been burnt in Victoria and worsening conditions, Victoria Police and Army reservists are working together to evacuate under threat areas.

Temperatures in the alpine region of Victoria went above 40 degrees, whilst wind speeds reached up to 70 kilometres an hour with fears the fires in the region will merge with those in East Gippsland, Premier Daniel Andrews said if residents “receive a warning, then you need

to go because… we will not be able to be there for you”. No communities in Victoria are isolated by fire and no one is unaccounted for after towns like Harrietville were evacuated by authorities, but authorities have said 286 homes have been damaged or destroyed. Image: Getty
