Asked about raising foster children on remote WA property, Catherine Walsh says: 'You can't imagine the reward of seeing something that was so broken become a confident, beautiful, young human being'.

Cath Walsh has written a book for each of her children, to remember the joys and challenges of their childhood.Both of Ms Walsh and her husband's foster children came from homes where they had suffered neglect.

"[Our eldest] has got a beautiful family and we have a great relationship with her family, but her mum was unwell and her sister and brother did the best that they could, but they were young and it was a really tricky situation for them," Ms Walsh said. "Our eldest came from a place where life was pretty tough to start with, and she ended up being the school captain of school of the air," Ms Walsh said.In addition to the reward of seeing her children grow up, Ms Walsh said she had also learnt a lot.
