KUCHING: People in Sarawak are only allowed to leave their homes to buy daily necessities or obtain essential goods and services during the movement control order period, says Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The Chief Minister announced this as part of tougher measures taken by the state government to curb the spread of Covid-19 as the number of cases in the country continued to spike.

Abang Johari said state government departments and agencies will be closed during this period, except those providing essential services. However, factories in the Samalaju industrial park and Samajaya hi-tech park as well as plywood factories are allowed to operate with minimal staff, the Chief Minister said.
