Exclusive: NSW government patches up housing estate as part of COVID-19 stimulus

The Berejiklian government has delayed plans to redevelop an ageing housing estate in Sydney and will instead patch up the units to make them liveable for urgent COVID-19 accommodation.

The NSW government will hit pause on plans to redevelop the Arncliffe Estate and will repair the ageing units instead.The work includes urgent electrical, kitchen and bathroom repairs to make the units habitable and will be cheaper than finding emergency accommodation for people impacted by coronavirus.$60.5 million was set aside for maintenance works and upgrades to public housing properties, including in regional NSW.
