Unless we properly fund our care homes and their invaluable workers, the shaming death toll will continue to rise

“I have never written so many death notifications in such a short time,” a care home manager who lost 23 residents to coronavirus in just two weeks told the Guardian last month. “Every member of staff is lost. One day, a resident was walking around with a mild temperature. I went home and the next morning they were dead.”

This crisis has been building for weeks, made worse by the govt discharging elderly patients to care homes while still infectious. Because of the lack of testing we may never know how many died, but it's a LOT more than counted in the official numbers. 😠
