The figures were provided to Sinn Féin’s housing spokesman Eoin Ó Broin and described by him as “totally unacceptable”.
They come as data from the Department show there are more than 1,000 Traveller families living in unsafe, insecure or overcrowded conditions. According to its most recent “count” of Travellers’ housing conditions, in 2018 a total of 591 families were on unauthorised sites, ie by the side of the road and usually without running water, toilets or secure electricity, and a further 927 were sharing accommodation with other families.
A total of 117 families are by the side of the road in counties that did not spend any money on accommodation last year, including 32 families in Co Mayo and 31 in Co Tipperary.
How much tax do these people pay!! Yep... Zero tax. They shouldn't get a cent until they pay there fair share of taxes like the rest of us!!
Now KildareCoCo will have to spend few € for cleaning after them at Curragh.

“If Sinn Féin is part of the next government we will urgently implement the recommendations of the Report of the Expert Group on Traveller Accommodation which was published last summer.” The saints
The halting site on the Headford Rd is to be avoided due to outbreak of covid19. The residents have spat at the local shopkeeper
And many of those who do spend, use it to only to (cheaply) retrofit existing sub-standard units. Lack of new units over decades has created a dire housing crisis for Travellers. I visited a young couple who live in their car yesterday. An independent agency is paramount.
Good. There shouldn't be a red cent spent on them. The media are great at telling us how much the tax payers of the country have spent on them but I've yet to see how much they as an ethic minority pay in tax.
The €13 million was a budget, not a target
Why is there a special fund for travelers , discrimination works both ways !
Why is there a special fund for travelers only?
this is the 6th year in a row
Do 100% of travellers ultimately get free land? What % of non-travellers get free land/accommodation from local authorities?
