Police have moved into secure the nine public housing towers placed into a five-day mandatory lockdown by the Victorian government amid the state's second major outbreak of COVID-19. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has taken the unprecedented step to lock down 3,000 residents in nine public housing estates in the suburbs of Flemington and North Melbourne for five days from Sunday.
The extraordinary measures come as Victoria recorded 108 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the highest since March 28. Australia has recorded 113 new cases in last 24 hours, 108 from a Victoria alone, while the other five were in NSW. Sky News Chief Anchor Kieran Gilbert says the Victorian government is considering extending the lockdowns to include parts of the metro area of Melbourne not just the hotspot suburbs.

What a mess, locking down these folks like they are in prison! Never forget where this virus came from!
DanielAndrewsMP it’s sad that so so many people will be impacted by these moves. This could have been avoided if only you’d made the tough decisions sooner.
Watch the home invasions and carjackings drop.
I read in another article some of these housing commissions have 9-10 people living in a room....wtf No wonder it’s high risk.

They will have people jumping out the windows soon. Disgusting treacherous tyranny.
Love all the boomers in these replies. It's like they want the right to be able to spread the virus, and for others to do the same. Extreme circumstances require extreme measures, ya'll still treating this like it's some small thing. Can't you just be sensible, logical humans?
This is wrong and illegal.
This is creepy!
