A crane was seen on site on Thursday night putting large concrete blocks in to slow the damage to property along the stretch of coastline. The beach in front of the Ocean View Drive homes was significantly eroded on Thursday after the region was hit by a low pressure system. In a Facebook post, Terrigal Fire and Rescue said the homes were at "significant risk of structural collapse due to beach erosion."

These people clear Dunal vegetation for their ocean views ...the wealthy are responsible for loss of much coastal native vegetation to get a better look at the ocean Intimidation of councils & NPWS when they try to stop them Close enough to the ocean now for you wealthy ones 🤣

Climate change is our biggest enemy, not Covid, not China!

These properties already find it difficult to get insurance due to past events. They should have sold up last time and got out. Plenty of other beautiful spots without living there.

Building on beaches is dumb. What do they expect? The coastline is always changing

Strange. You build your house in a cliff created by erosion, and then don't worry about erosion until it's about to claim your home.

Govt funded rebuild I spoze. .......gain

Bad planning? Climate change ignorance? 'I'll build where ever I like, damn it!' or 'Hope my insurance is paid up?'

Sucks

I wonder how Kevin Rudd’s $17m Noosa beachfront is holding up?

Lucky there is NO climate change & this doesnt vost anything to fix / repair, if possible.

Greed and stupidity

Sometimes just gotta be grateful to not have money 😳

Strategic and staged retreat plans for beachside homes needs to be developed. Some sort of government compensation to homeowners for this disaster must happen.

Why do I think about penguins gathering stones around their nest with these photos. The smart investors have already bought the properties across they road soon they will have the million dollar views to sell to the next load of cashed up suckers.

Maybe it’s time to rethink where we build our homes

No sympathy for the multi millionaire dollar water view home owners

jot_au Wealthy oceanfront house owners to become instant converts to 'socialism' while begging taxpayers to stop their homes from sliding into the sea?

.Hello Climate Change. It's not like it wasn't predicted. Evidence over ideology...with Pandemics and Climate Change

When you update this story please mention Global Warming. Criminally irresponsible not to.

I have no sympathy for those that have built on beaches. Beaches are by nature dynamic. They naturally move in and out and must be allowed to do so. Councils should never have allowed those building. Now all rate payers have to foot the bill for the rich.

They should just knock those houses down. Should never have been built in that location. Stupidity.

Ozesurfer I reckon that’s dans fault

Can you really blame the weather for this situation? The beach erosion was going to happen at some point, maybe you should blame the house for being there.

Realestate risk takers!

you pay your money you take your chances
