KULAI: The Johor government is urging SMEs to register their brands under the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) to better improve their competitiveness in the local and international market.

Johor investment, entrepreneur development, cooperative and human resource committee chairman Mohd Izhar Ahmad said that trademark protection is important especially when it comes to business expansion and protecting its patents and business know-how.

“As of July 30 this year, we have about 2,984 registered companies in the state that are well-versed technopreneurs. He was met at a press conference after the officiating ceremony of the Intellectual Property Commercialization Seminar at Impiana Hotel, here on Tuesday .
