Queensland police are continuing investigations into a suspected murder-suicide involving a four-year-old boy and a man on remote Cape York property yesterday.

Mr Harvey, a sailing and boxing enthusiast who had a business building "alternative homes", was known in the local community.

Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott, whose region takes in Rossville, said the deaths were a horrible shock."The fact that this is such a young child … this will be felt very deeply by a small, close community like Rossville." Specialist police and detectives from Cairns and Mareeba travelled to Rossville late yesterday to commence investigations.Detective Inspector Jason Smith said they were working to establish how the pair died.

it’s difficult to understand these kind of tragic deaths. It even harder to understand how our police force cope with these kind of event. if I may say we all express our sympathies to this family in their time of need and to the men and women who deal with these tragedies.
