KUCHING: Sarawak has asked the Federal Government to prioritise Covid-19 outbreak areas in the state for vaccination, says state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui HianDr Sim, who oversees public health, said he understood there would be a new category or phase four in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for outbreak areas.

Dr Sim said it was important to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible to provide protection against Covid-19. "No one is safe until everyone is vaccinated. If not everyone gets vaccinated, the transmission will continue, mutation will happen and variants will start to emerge. "The top purpose of vaccination is to stop the transmission. People will be protected once there is no more transmission and no new variants," he said.
