Cornwall has overtaken London as the most searched for location among property buyers, data suggests.

That is no surprise to Emma Ward, of Cornwall estate agents Goundrys.

"There are lots of people coming here to buy, because they know they'll only need to go to London once or twice a month," she says. Rightmove's director of property data Tim Bannister says: "More space has always been the most common reason for people moving home, but the evolution for many from balancing their laptop on the end of a bed last March to making an office a permanent addition to a home has led to a need for even bigger homes than before."

Rightmove says renters are now searching for more in central zones one and two, compared with greater demand in zone three in August.

Soon as this all over, the sea dwellers will be rushing back to the cities

Presumedly no one will be able to buy a second home in Cornwall? Weren't some local councils in the region looking to bring in restrictions? I recall Padstow was considering it.

Cornwall is struggling to cope with the influx. So many rentals being snapped up by newcomers who can afford to pay more and openly offer more to secure it. House prises are up and there are not enough now for locals (even if we could afford them).

Of increasingly money centric second home - I fear so. It’s is unique in the U.K.. If you are buying in Cornwall then live here and embrace its places and people. A people increasingly being priced out of that choice (rents are insane!) lovecornwall cornish
