Do not listen to estate agents – house prices will go down, not up ...and here's why

This is not to say housing here is affordable or slowly becoming affordable. It’s patently not. Photograph: iStockis not up, it’s down, and we should be wary of estate agents telling us otherwise.

We had our fill of self-serving, industry-based reports back in the 2000s and look where that got us.hit back in March last year, it seemed like the bottom had fallen out of the property market. Estate agents prepared for an annus horribilis. But the market proved more resilient than anyone expected.

Eh I wouldn’t be so sure on them going down.

Why is this on Twitter and not on the subscriber app yet?

We’re building feck all houses to sell, so no, they won’t.

There is still a shortage of housing and population growth and supply coming online isn't enough to catch up to those. This means the pressure on prices is still there. To claim prices will come down in the headline to then read no evidence that it will come down is.... odd

Every estate agent will tell you 'there has never been a better time to buy'. Regardless of market conditions.

You have to understand why the prices are going up and will go up for the next few years. Excessive money printing is forcing banks to lend more or pay penalties on sleeping money.
