All the cretins stereotyping 'mothers'.....dad's are single parents too. STFU

You can get this if you earn up to 125k. My partner and I don't earn this together. This policy is BS.

Single parents to be given assistance to buy property with a 3-home cap to the (taxpayer subsidised by single parents!) CGT discount and 25,000 new social housing starts per year But seriously, why would there be a real policy? SmirkAndMirrors 🤷🏾‍♂️

Single income no kids never count. We pay tax. We do it tough by ourselves. Child care family tax benefits etc etc etc we pay for all these but can never benefit from it. Where is our tax deduction

Lies and shallow promises

Feels like an invitation for people to separate to rort the system 🤦‍♂️ auspol

Seems like a good idea 👍, your better off paying of your own home then renting and in effect paying off someone else's

Apparently one million plus require similar offer.I’ve always owned a home, the Australian dream. Not really being looked after here are they I’m sympathetic

That's one way to kick the can down the road

How can this work with enormous property prices? 2% deposit on huge amount + stamp duty on huge amount (plus legals) plus repayments on huge amount, all on one wage.

And what happens down the track when interest rates start to soar as they inevitably will if the borrower does not have a high paying job to cover rate rises? It could be a train wreck in the future.

1/2 Don't believe that's a solution to anything. Bringing thousands of new home buyers to overstretched market will only increase the property prices. Single parents will able to buy a house which they would not be able to pay off in their lifetime.

Most single parent incomes won’t qualify

How generous of the govt to encourage single mothers into debt by only needing 2% deposit (hot tip: if you can't save more than 2% deposit, you probably won't be able to make the repayments) and permit us to raid our own superannuation, to make REALLY sure we retire into poverty.

How about helping the people who work hard to keep the country going no bonus for the hard workers

ten bucks says there's a bit of a caveat hidden in there somewhere by way of emphasizing non-men and non-white single parents in this

And if you're partnered, but on a low income, paying $600+ per week in rent for a shack in Canberra, where your job is, well its just tough shit for you isn't it!!

How does this policy help with housing affordability or liveable rents

You believe and promote all the spin and lies served to you by LNPCorruptionParty

Any policy will do now to keep the ponzi scheme afloat while continuing to appease early investors...... This is no boost, closer to lead weights while trying to swim🤦‍♂️.....

When these ppl do the math they'll realise it's just another announcement by the Libs to make them feel good as seen to be doing something as housing is unaffordable for many single parents, unless they are on MP wages 😬

They have to buy the single's vote!

How anybody can save a 20% deposit on a $400,000 property while absorbing the relentless cost of living in Australia is beyond me A 2% deposit should be available to everyone. House pricing and rentals should also be decreased, capped and regulated..but i fear it's all to late!

Well I'm no accountant but $600,000 less $12,000 deposit = $588,000 over 30 years at what 3.5% interest rate? = $2,640 month = $600 per week, with about $350,000 interest. How many low income people can afford over $600pw when so many are struggling now? Liberals No Policies.

Unexplained rise in births and divorce rates after 2021

What about the disabled?

So instead of scrap negative gearing this government will instead act as a lenders mortgage insurer and again intervene in a private market all while spruiking free markets ideologies. We should drug test all mps.

what a load of crap! They need Housing homes built!......

Ah the brave new world of responsible lending The loan sharks, pay day loan companies and unscrupulous real estate companies will be salivating at the prospect of defaulted loans and property repossessions

-Quick, we've lost the support of single mothers. We need a (weirdly specific, easily exploitable, difficult to administer) policy to buy back their votes in the budget! -So like, improve housing affordability? -No you fools! We'll lose too many votes lowering house prices

'letting the market decide' 🤢🤮🤢

A lower deposit will just mean higher repayments..... How is this help?

Oh goodie, instant houses being made available.....how miraculous is that?

TAS - more hand-outs, paid from honest hard working Australian tax payers' money !

I thought liberalaus was the family values party not the single mums party

Another ruse to attack super. And attack some vulnerable people on the way through

‘Minimal help, maximum hype’: Single parents housing package criticised for helping only a ‘handful’Australian Council of Social Services boss Cassandra Goldie says any federal housing support should be seen in the context of other policy measures, with one in three single parents living below the poverty line as a result of cuts to social security | ... Why would this govt do anything to those who would never vote for them. This is blatant buying of potential swinging voters (employed people with regular income) with tax payers money again! Nope it is yet another out of the real world fail by the LNP. Where in the hell is a single mother going to get anywhere near $20,000 to buy a place in Sydney.
