Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael know Sinn Féin are poised to capitalise on perceived failures

His colleague Griffin agrees. “We need to have one voice from the three Government parties on housing. That petty blaming of each other has to stop.”

“From a zeitgeist point of view, it looked awful,” he says. “If Fianna Fáil can’t deliver homes for people, we will not be able to prove to the people it was worth their while putting us into government.” “All the focus was on shared equity. But that’s only a small part of the Bill. We have affordable housing being built on State-owned land for the first time. We also have cost-rental housing being introduced at scale for the first time.McAuliffe says he is worried local authorities won’t have the same ambitions or urgency to deliver affordable homes on State land as the Government has.

“This is the biggest game-changing legislation on housing ever and even more so when combined with the the Land Development Agency,” she says.Several Fianna Fáil TDs point out that Sinn Féin sees housing as the Achilles heel. They say the main Opposition party took out micro-targeted advertising this week focusing on younger age groups in Dublin and elsewhere, attacking the Government on its housing policies.Lawless acknowledges that if housing fails, so will Fianna Fáil.

Perceived, you are having a laugh. How are Sales these times? Bought your paper everyday mainly for the cryptic crossword. Would read certain articles both political and sporting. Well if you perceive I am not buying it the past 8 months, you are correct.

Perceived failures !Total incompetence more like. But FF&FG will play the 'Army council' card for all it's worth, in an effort to save their hide.100 years of FF&FG has left us in debt up to our ears, We cannot house our people, our country is being sold to foreign speculaters.

drop the perceived

Journalism is dead. Cut out the codology Irish Times. Report the news don't spin it.

The end of FF,FG arrogance is inevitable at this stage as the public are well aware of how their priorities have failed the people for too long now.

GET RID OF THIS SHOWER OF IGNORAMUSES!! IRISH PEOPLE DESERVE BETTER THAN THESE CLOWNS!!

Really, they figured that out?

Perceived failures Your having a laugh. Total FFG failure WorstTaoiseachEver and LeoTheLeak

IT trying to mug the public off 'Percieved' ffs🤣

Replace “perceived” with “actual” failures there lads

'perceived failures'

So they're going to try to deal with it in case SF will get votes if they don't. They have been failing at this for many years & worse they create the environment for it to happen. SF wouldn't be an issue to them if they did a decent job.

'Perceived' Jesus IT really want that gov funding don't you. Actual failures.. Not just failures but corruption that allowed these failures. Don't worrie about SF.. Everything about its leadership is a carbon copy of FF and worse.. Shed go exactly the same way.. Vote nationalist

Correction needed there, Mary Fitzpatrick isn't a TD for Dublin Central.

'Perceived Failures'... 🤔🤔

Perceived? Known failures they mean.

Democracy thrives on strong opposition.

Perceived 😂😂😂

Perceived? FG & FF have handed our housing over to greedy vultures.

Next general election your headline is gonna read “Sinn Féin perceived to win election”

Perceived failures? Sorry what!

FF & FG would do a lot better trying to solve those issues rather than banging on about SF ad nauseum. They might have less to fear from the bogeyman if they'd prove themselves vaguely useful.

Thats the problem, both parties are only concerned with the next election, FF more so. If they fixed the actual problems both their parties have created, there are no perceived failures, just failures, people may actually vote for them on merit, I wont hold my breath though.

A million people starved to death from the 'perceived failure' of the potato crop.

Ya, fianna fail are perceived to be corrupt to the core!

Says it all really More concerned with getting a hiding in the next election 'Fine Gael needs a successful housing policy as much as Fianna Fáil does, says Louth TD Fergus O’Dowd. “We took a huge hit in last year’s election on housing. Nobody want that to happen again.”

The failures are real.

Shock horror FF & FG have suddenly realized there’s a housing crisis 😳 I’d say O’Brien has had a few sleepless nights this week

Too much focus on NI and brexit and not enough focus on basic bread and butter issues from Dublin, thoughts richardtgarland CommanderMP NotThatBigIan?

Happy to support the IT with my perceived subscription.

Not to mention the actual failures. Isn't that what the opposition is supposed to do? Hold those in power to account?

You've spelled 'actual' incorrectly.

Have they tried not being shit?

Perceived failures They've run the country into the ground to ensure their own financial future. Complete failures , cop on

They are genuine and severe failures. Your paper should do a trial run on journalistic integrity.

'perceived' 🙄

As in we're incorrect in our 'perception' that FF & FG represent their actual constituents when it comes to genuinely affordable housing ?

For writing this b.s. I can only perceive you are simple.😄😄

Imagine being such a shitty hack you're comfortable using phrases like perceived failures.

Perceived?

'percieved' failures lol you hacks

Perceived

Ireland is looking down the barrel of pensioners not being able to afford rent in the future..Its wake up time..people need to get on the housing ladder not vulture funds.

‘perceived’ ? 🤷‍♂️

Perceived failures is the perfect expression. People need to wake up and open their eyes. Homelessness is nearly sorted, the housing crisis is close to resolved, and our health system is the envy of the world. Our Government have been doing a magnificent job.

Perceived? Come on now, there is no perceived about it.

“perceived failures”? Are you taking the piss? Thousands of people aren’t homeless? Vulture funds aren’t buying up thousands of homes? Hundreds of thousands of people aren’t awaiting medical appointments(true before covid)? People aren’t being gouged by the insurance industry?

Are you saying their housing policy, for example, is a great success, if only we would realize it?

Can't say they have had coming. The election last year was the ultimate warning shot and they have hid behind Covid since then. FF know if they don't do something soon, they will be destroyed in the next election.

Perceived is a bit of an understatement.

“Perceived”. 🙄 IT going to IT.

The free state built a lot of low income housing in the 1930, 40, 50, 60, 70, people had poor housing- no running water, or sewage in lots of areas - also a lot of homes in rural Ireland had no electricity in 1947 - this useless Govt, won’t even build a house except for vultures

Yes indeed FF and FG are corrosive corrupt individuals along with their CEO cronies running this country into the ground for generations hiding behind lies and broken promises and excuse after excuse and its taken a pandemic to show their true colours

Don’t panic, it’s only a perception that vulture funds are buying up large swathes of housing stock. It’s even more of a perception that this administration views €400k as affordable housing.

Nothing wrong with saying 'perceived' here. As Rory Hearne pointed out recently, their housing policies succeeded in their aims. They just failed us

'perceived failures' 'perceived' in the same sense the €450,000 is 'affordable' Oh and 'paper of record'

FF and FG have had 100 years to get it right, they have failed. It is not perceived. Your time is up.
