A former soldier remains behind bars after being charged with firearms and explosive offences following police raids on two homes in Sydney's south-west.

A crime scene was established at the Argyle Street home and at a second address at Wild Street, also in Picton.A former soldier is in police custody after being charged with firearm and explosive offences. Equipment including a rotary evaporator, heating mantle and glassware, as well as liquids and acids including fuming nitric acid, commonly used in the production of explosives, were also seized for forensic examination.
