The cost of accommodation along parts of the New South Wales South Coast reach dizzying heights, with property owners taking advantage of Sydney's exodus after the lifting of COVID travel restrictions.

The price of taking a holiday on the New South Wales South Coast has skyrocketed, with a week’s accommodation costing up to $22,000.Some real estate managers are using an automatic booking system that adjusts rates based on the season and demand

McGrath Real Estate manager Kelly Robertson said the increase was due to a post-lockdown rush of Sydney travellers wanting to escape combined with the popular peak season. "We are moving over to a new booking system and the prices are not set tariffs, the system fluctuates," Ms Robertson said."It is amazing the prices people are paying."Ms Robertson said a number of premium properties in the Mollymook area were listed for more than $10,000 per week for a family home.

NEVER

If you did, then a) you're an idiot; b) you have far more money than sense; c) you're perpetuating the problem, justifying that price by actually paying it.

No, never

Most people can’t anyway

It’s obscene to many - except perhaps those who have far too much and for whom that price tag is small change.

Greed at its absolute worst…

How stupid are people to pay that much

Holidays? What are they when you are on low wages?

Wake up Australia people will fly to Asia, you are getting greedy 🤷‍♂️

No!! I have beaches in Aussie!!

Holiday in Australia they said...

Never!! Those who would have far too much cash. Nice for owners to make appropriately fare profit but this figure is just rot. Agents also guilty.

The buying power of our dollar seems to have halved recently and nobody is wanting to say it but we've had 100% inflation in some areas. PCs, cars and housing in some areas have doubled recently. Almost put a deposit on a Hyundai online until it came up with an $82,000 price wtf

I've certainly noticed price gouging on the Sunshine Coast this Xmas. Places never rented before have started showing up at 10k+ per week.

That’s more than my car cost, and I expect that to last for 10 years. Where would any non millionaire get that kind of money? Bizarre question ABC, you guys must be living in some kind of super high income bubble.

'We restore the original Islam of Muhammad s.a.w in all Muslim Countries, in the whole world there was one Eid and Ramadan and once again Islam was spread in the whole earth and Islam stood victorious'- Could Muhammad Qasim be the awaited Imam Al-Mahdi?

Holidays and second homes is surely another tax concession for the needy middle class

Not only holiday home rental prices, if you search Gday/summerstar,……caravan park prices (high peak and low peak season)also skyrocketing ! Crazy !!! Will damage Australia tourism industry in long terms.

Geeed at its absolute worst…

It would be over my dead body,NO!!

Depending on how big the house, a 4 bedroomed house on the Mornington Peninsula beach suburbs in Victoria has been costing around $16 000- $18000 a month for years, and its much higher now, so that figure is not that surprising for NSW.

what a total rip off

With all the Clinate greeny psychos telling us we have maximum 11 years before the planet explodes and we all disappear into nothingness .. fck yeah I’d pay double this and still have money to blow in 2032

This is a question directed at roughly 17,000 Australian multi millionaires.

Houses are no longer homes they are just commodities that help the rich get richer!

No.

Hell no..

Greedy aholes

Everything is skyrocketing in Australia. Rental and housing market is out of control. Life is not easy as before.

Only for the really well off. No average family could afford this. What a ripoff by the owners. I bet they write it off in their taxes

That should be 5 year's rent!

Nope

Is the house big enough to fit 10 families?

That’s rent for 52 weeks.

Nope.

This would have to be one of the dumbest tweets yet, No the average or even highly above average Australian would not pay $22,000 a week for accommodation

No
