Storm Barra will be over by 5pm this evening, but while the weather is improving, conditions in some areas are still dangerous, according to the Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann.Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Claire Byrne, Ms Cusack said there are strong winds to come over Connacht, northern and eastern Leinster, including Louth, Meath and Dublin.
The Chair of the National Emergency Co-ordination Group said dangerous and difficult conditions remain and the storm conditions will not abate until this afternoon. People are urged not to approach fallen electricity lines and if they come across them to treat them as live and contact the ESB Emergency number on 1800 372 999.
Mr Leonard said a review following Storm Ophelia on 16 October 2017 found that organisations such as ESB Networks and Irish Water have strong crisis management and response systems.
