It ordered the site's owner, Australia China International Pty Ltd, to take "immediate and active measures to redress disrepair or risk to a listed place".

It's disgusting our own government has allowed this. They're knocking down heritage buildings everywhere across NSW for chinese developers. It's an atrocious betrayal of our nation's history and heritage.
'So now, Heritage NSW will undertake the work',&' the owner will be made to pay for it — through court action 'if necessary'.... Yeah right! can see that money coming back. (excuse my cynicism)
Look around. Plenty of foreign owned properties in disrepair. They want the land dont care about anything else.

Developers don't care for history or for amenity. They are in it for a quick buck. We know this and we still sell them sensitive sites because it absolves us of responsibility. And the fact that the developer is Chinese is irrelevant except that he has somewhere to escape to.
So does this set a precedent for legal action against all the mining companies that have destroyed Indigenous Artifacts?
