The proposal calls for $475 million in property tax relief in the form of a one-time property tax rebate. Homeowners can get a rebate of 5% of their property taxes paid, up to $300, for those eligible for a state income tax credit.
The governor said the surplus would exist even without money received from the federal government as part of the American Rescue Plan Act. The governor also announced nearly $900 million will be added to the Rainy Day Fund in fiscal years 2022 and 2023.
