More than 2000 homes and businesses in the state’s inundated Northern Rivers have been declared unliveable and NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet warned the recovery will take years as the true extent of the disaster becomes clear.
Mr Perrottet, who spent the weekend assessing the damage in the state’s north, said the recovery would take years. “I think we really have to rethink where we are going to build houses and housing developments and allow places to be built,” Mr Toole told the“They might be in a beautiful part of the world, but they do sit in flood zones which do have these catastrophes that can occur from time to time.”
ADF personnel continued to be rolled out across the Northern Rivers region on Sunday after the Commonwealth Government committed 900 troops to assist the state government over coming days. Federal Defence Minister Peter Dutton said he was “absolutely satisfied” with the ADF response on Sunday morning.
“We were getting some Facebook posts of people stranded that hadn’t eaten for days, and those that needed fuel for generator and things like that,” she said.

Rabe9 The public support to lower insurance is based on collecting a carbon tax right? Otherwise is the public taxpayer getting equity in private investments in exchange for paying the increased insurance? Perhaps being uninsurable should send a strong message
