A global investor has purchased a downtown Dallas block that includes landmark buildings and new apartments.

The two older buildings were joined on the block in 2008 with construction of the 18-story Third Rail Lofts building at 1407 Main St.The buildings occupy a key downtown block between Main and Elm streets and are across from the new National hotel, apartment and office tower redevelopment. And on Elm Street behind the Gulf States Building, the 76-year-old former Mayfair Department Store was designed by noted Dallas architect George Dahl. The seven-story granite and Austin stone building houses apartments and retail.
