Candy said the Russian Oligarch will still have the final say on who buys the Stamford Bridge outfit despite having been sanctioned by the United Kingdom Government.
Abramovich is being accused of being a close ally to Russian President, Vladimir Putin who recently ordered the invasion of the Republic of Ukraine. This prompted UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson to sanction Abramovich and seize the 55-year-old’s assets, including Chelsea Football Club, which is valued at around £3billion.
The Russian is not allowed to profit from the sale of Chelsea, but Candy claims Abramovich will still have a decisive say in the process.“People might not like that, but it’s his club still – it’s sanctioned – but it’s his club.”
