Anti-poverty advocates set up what they called a “faux encampment” outside of Toronto City Hall Thursday morning, protesting the city’s response to homeless encampments.

The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty held a press conference to highlight Toronto city bylaws like 608-13 and 608-14, which makes camping in public spaces illegal.

Camping is allowed, however, by permit on Toronto Snake Island by non-profit children's groups like the Scouts or Girl Guides, says the city.

Why don’t the advocates just invite the homeless people to stay at their place?
