My wife and I went under contract for a condo in early January, and we were told at the time that the seller needed a few weeks before scheduling closing so that the city could process the paperwork approving/forming the condo association and assigning a tax ID number to the property . That was over two months ago.
We’ve been told by our realtor, lender and the lawyer for the developer that DC govt bureaucratic gridlock has held up the timely approval of real estate related applications like this condo association all over town. I wonder if anyone else in DC has been spinning their wheels like we have, still under contract and desperately paying for a series of rate-lock extensions while the city government takes months to rubber stamp documents.
