Almost 3,000 individuals were displaced from their homes after Alert Level 3 was raised over Taal Volcano over the weekend following its phreatomagmatic burst, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.

In a report, the NDRRMC said a total of 2,961 people or 869 families were affected by the activity of the volcano.

Evacuation was conducted in Barangays Buso Buso, Gulod, and Bugaan East in Laurel; Banyaga and Bilibinwang in Agoncillo; Palsara in Balete; Quilling in Talisay; and Don Juan in Cuenca.Some 113 police personnel were deployed to the affected areas, augmented by 13 personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard and 12 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Aside from this, the PNP said the police has also been conducting preventive evacuation, close monitoring of Taal, and regular patrolling in evacuated barangays.PHIVOLCS raised Alert Level 3, signifying magmatic unrest, over Taal Volcano on Saturday morning
