There are three crucial Australian contracts that pay-TV provider Foxtel possesses. The first allows it to broadcast every AFL match played, the second allows it to broadcast every NRL match played, and the third allows it to broadcast every episode in which a 50-something real estate expert named Andrew Winter attempts to sell an unwanted house. It’s a toss-up as to which deal draws the most passionate fans.
“He’s our most popular talent and our most loved talent. “Andrew doesn’t have a screen persona – he’s exactly the same off-screen, and that’s his secret weapon,” says Wendy Moore.While Winter’s shows are audience magnets for Foxtel, and he was its first talent to receive a Gold Logie nomination in 2018, he has no interest in being famous or wielding power off-screen. For Moore, who’d been a Foxtel executive since 2019 after a career in publishing, handling upheaval onwas a baptism by casting. Winter, Blaze and Albone had genuine chemistry. Screen tests and Winter’s tick of approval led to former NRL player-turned-landscape gardener Dennis Scott replacing Albone, but the search for the new interior designer took an unexpected turn.
