South-east Queenslanders whose flood-ravaged homes remain unliveable have their hopes dashed after the federal government rejects a proposal to jointly fund a flood relief buyback scheme.

"These programs can, and should, be directly funded and delivered by the Queensland government, in the same way that the Commonwealth fully funds significant elements of our own contribution," Mr Morrison said in a letter to Ms Palaszczuk.

"How would he [Scott Morrison] like it if he had a nice home, just finished from 2011 — fixed — and then everything turns to mud, poo," he said.Funding rejections sparks widespread criticism He lives with his wife and four children in their Goodna property in Ipswich that no longer has walls or electricity after 1.6 metres of flood water swept through the property earlier this year.

With that hope fallen through, the family are now waiting for funding from government grants, which they're hoping to receive before the birth of their new baby.Acting Premier Cameron Dick said the Prime Minister's response showed the "highest level of disrespect for Queenslanders" and accused Mr Morrison of making a "political calculation" based on votes in flood-impacted areas.

Constitutionally a state issue - the building approvals in flood zones aren’t a federal government problem

Why should everyone pay for your poor choice of land in a flood zone.

Fake news..keep up labABC. 1.5 billion for fake news

Taxpayers money to buy-back homes from people who built or bought homes in flood zones Hmm?

Taxpayers money to buy-back homes people

So, I take the risk and buy a cheap house in a flood zone, then get public money to buy it back so I can buy in a non flood zone. If you can’t insure it, you shouldn’t buy it.

The Chook can take the money from the Olympics and use it to actually help people. This is 100% a state responsibility

So QLDLabor Palaszczuk govt has not even matched the federal government spending of $912m & expects them to fork out hundreds of millions more for what is a state & local govt responsibility. Why did the state & local govt allow these houses to be built on flood plains? Greed.
