The owner of Water Tower Place is walking away from the troubled Magnificent Mile mall.

In a statement Wednesday, Brookfield Properties spokesperson Lindsay Kahn said Water Tower Place “will no longer be part of Brookfield’s portfolio.”

I worked at K&B there 97-00. It was losing stores then. Mag Mile was not uber-chic then either. Oak St. was. Bloomingdale’s had just moved in.

Malls are dying everywhere. If you actually live in Chicago, you would know that water tower has been going downhill for a long time now.
