Police negotiators engaged with a man for about three hours before he surrendered to officers, who recovered a gun from the Berrimah property on Friday.

A 50-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and several firearm-related offences after allegedly threatening his employer with a firearm at a business in the Darwin suburb of Berrimah.A gun was located at the Berrimah propertyPolice were called to the scene at about 6pm on Thursday and cordoned off an area around Pruen Road as a precaution.

Police said negotiators engaged with a man who later surrendered to officers and was taken into custody at about 9pm. On Friday Detective Assistant Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said nobody was injured during the incident.On Friday police located a firearm at the property. The charges include possession of an unlicensed firearm, failure to meet firearm storage requirements and possession of ammunition without a permit.Posted
