After a few weeks of living in her car after losing her rental housing, Moss decided to call in to ABC Radio, just for someone to talk to. She found a community keen to offer help.

Without family to turn to and disconnected from friends after back surgery four years ago left her in chronic pain, the 70-year-old said she struggled to find a new place to rent.

After putting her possessions in storage, she was able to stay at a motel for a few days before spending two and a half weeks in the car when she made the call.Moss's story prompted an outpouring of offers of help from ABC Radio Perth listeners and by 8.30pm that night, she was in a small studio close to her old home in Stoneville, in the Perth hills.

Moss in Stoneville, in the Perth hills. She says she's been overwhelmed with offers of help and feels optimistic about the future. The studio isn't a permanent home, but she can stay until she has time to get on her feet and find out what government services may be available.

tell albo you are illegal 200000 dollars free rent from ray white nothing to worry about dear

Head for Biloela, they’re giving out handouts.

A decade of LNP gave us this.

Head to Biloela.

Well, if I were governing a country where quite a lot of people were unable to support themselves what I’d do is p¡ss a bunch of money away on military capacity which is almost never used. GeniusNot. Sign me up.

If I had mega amounts of money, I'd buy properites & rent them out cheaply to people like Moss - so long as they looked after it, I'd let them live there until they (or I) died. Why have a lot of money if you can't help others or make the world a better place?

it's a sad story, & even more sad is the reality there are three elderly homeless men for every homeless woman, but that the ABC always conveniently ignores, does the ABC 'feel' homeless men are unimportant & of no concern? or maybe, somehow deserve it?

Why isn't the studio a permanent home for this women?🤔

Up until a few days ago there was a spare house in Biloela that could have been given to her.

Labor won 77 seats. Liberals won 27 seats. Lowest since Menzies formed the Party. Had those results been flipped, majority of MSM would have rejoiced, & Labor would would have received the most minimal of attention/exposure. auspol insiders

Governments are forking out money for non-Australians living here and overseas, but can’t afford to look after our own citizens! Biloela is always available!

Someone said 'no one will be left behind' & 'know the value of a dollar'. Australia has a cost of living CRISIS & thousands of stories like this are out there. Tax cuts of $12,000+ to politicians & well off are inappropriate & unaffordable. SkyNewsAust newscomauHQ 9NewsAUS

By engineering hyper-demand demand through tax concessions (CGT, NG), foreign ownership, rapid population and cheap credit, both Lib and Lab treat housing as a speculative asset rather than a basic human need. Until we deal with hyper-demand we're chasing our tails.

Low interest rates allowed the 1% to buy up property and land bank it. The houses are empty owned by foreign corporations in many cases. Is there data on this? Haven't seen it as we live in a closed secretive society parading as a democracy.

She should claim refugee status and people will fund her to around $200k…

homelessness is a major issues in our community especially for women as the lack of security contributes to Mentalhealth issues & feeds the circle of entrapment The stategov should be doing more to address this issue & put resources into regional areas wapol wanews 6PR

It’s a shame that people cannot rely on family members, especially their children, to look after them in old age or in time of need. We’ve definitely lost something over the last couple of generations

In a world that is full of terrible things, it was reading this lovely story that brought a warm feeling inside, there are Aussies willing to step up and help others in need, whether it be fires, floods and now homelessness.

Sad state when we fly illegals who broke our laws in private jets but our own people are suffering in this way

Heartbreaking but glad people helped

There are plenty of people in public housing they don't qualify for...ie the allocation of the number of people per type of housing, have too much money and work... greater checks need to be done because once people are in it is hard to get them out !

830 million dollars to appease a French submarine manufacturer, would of paid for a lot of subsidised temporary accommodation, in motels/ hotels, for those finding themselves homeless because of the current housing crisis.

albanese is running an illegal racket. If she could destroy her birth certificate and any evidence she is Australian albanese will fix it for her auspol

Maybe Albo could spend more time focusing on Australia's issues then worrying about other nations feelings 🤔

Try getting into a homeless shelter, get a case worker who could advocate for public housing... being a woman on a pension, over 55 and facing homelessness she would qualify ! It can be hard asking for help but in the long term she would be better off...this breaks my heart !

Politicians have turned Australia into a third world tip, where 1.1 million children are living in poverty and the aged are mostly starving, the lucky country is a myth spread by the wealthy and politicians who actually believe this crap.

Remove. Negative. Gearing.

This is a national issue and needs to be high priority of support.

Our PM just promised millions to the French, Albo might get to you further down the list. AlboMP

I’m an absolute Capitalist and a lifelong Republican but I’m sorry, this should not happen to people, especially seniors in the United States

In one the wealthiest nations on earth THIS IS A TERRIBLE STAIN and should not happen.

Why do low income people expect to be able to live alone in a rental? I know working people who can't afford to live alone. Move into a share house with other older people.
