A Chambers County homeowner's property was valued at $65,000 in 2021. This year, it increased to $382,000. And he isn't the only one seeing an astronomical hike.

HOUSTON, Texas -- Unprecedented rises in property valuations in Texas have stunned multiple homeowners receiving their tax bills.

In 2021, Nash owed about $1,700 in property taxes. In 2022, he will have to pay Chambers County more than $10,000. Harris County is the largest appraisal district in the United States, meaning they cannot value each property individually. "We are not seeing as much movement as we would like, to put it mildly," Sam Pack, a property tax consultant with Rainbolt and Co., said.

That determines how much a homeowner pays in taxes. Market values are determined by the amount the home could sell. In many cases, those numbers are different because of the housing boom.

Wake up folks I don’t like Beto but FFS Patrick and Abbot are doing nothing to help, time for a flat tax abolish property taxes, do not punish people for being responsible and owning a home

You can fight this in court. Property tax lawyers will charge you like 90 bucks to keep it down

Isn’t there a law saying the value can’t increase more than 30 percent in 3 years? How is this legal.

Wrong 😑

That’s ridiculous. I had a property valued at $23,000 in 2021, now has been increased to $129,000 when it should have going down, this is Harris county. Are they doing it on purpose?!☝️😡
