Emergency services were called to Bath Street in the town at around 8pm last night . Police said a 57-year-old man was found inside and pronounced dead at the scene.
Formal identification of the suspected murder victim is yet to take place and a post mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death. A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.Pictures showed several police cars at the scene this morning . Forensic officers in white boiler suits were also seen combing the property and surrounding area for evidence.
Detective Inspector Matthew Kerr told the ECHO: "It is with great sadness that we confirm that a man was found dead at a property on Bath Street. "We are in the very early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish what has taken place and how he died.
