New horizon for affordable housing as non-profits set to merge yyc

Horizon Housing and Forward Housing, which have been active in Calgary for 92 years combined, announced Wednesday their merger is expected to be completed this fall.

“The merger is really a result of extensive due diligence to make sure that this is something that makes sense,” she said. “Not that we needed additional reason, but this suddenly was additional reason to counter the inflation and counter the labor shortage.” Horizon Housing is bringing about 1,000 units to the partnership while Forward Housing is bringing another 650.
