A vengeful killer continued to threaten family members from behind bars following the savage murders of both his parents.
On November 19 2021, Lee Tipping, 36, stabbed his father Anthony to death in a frenzied and brutal knife attack at the home they shared in Cann Bridge Street, Higher Walton. He then turned the knife onto his mother Patricia Livesey, when she tried to intervene. The following day, Tipping was arrested by armed police at a hotel in Manchester city centre after a failed attempt to leave the country.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Lee’s uncle, Stuart Tipping, said: “The police offered to install panic alarms and fit smoke alarms and fire alarms in all rooms, locks for our letterboxes and outside bins, and fire extinguishers.“This has left us anxious and losing sleep during a time when we should have been grieving. We never thought we would be locking ourselves in our houses just in case, or disconnecting phone lines to ensure that Lee cannot ring us again.
“Lee residing so close, being in Guild Lodge these past six months, has really furthered this fear and anxieties. We have been kept up at night with questions like ‘is it really secure? Can he get out?’
