The lavish home of a family reported to be the first victims of the Pendle witches has gone on sale in a small village near Nelson.
Stories claim that the duo thought they had been bewitched by a widow nicknamed Chattox and her daughter Anne Redfearn, who lived on their land. In 1612, as the witch trails took place in Lancaster Castle, the evidence was used against nine Pendle people. The women, as well as other family members and neighbours, were found guilty and hanged.
