Investigations are underway but at this stage police do not know who the gunman is and are "actively searching". "It's taken a number of hours for police to search and clear the area, however we have found a crime scene in a remote rural area," Mackay District Superintendent Tom Armitt said."We do not know who is responsible."
Armitt also said it's believed the victims were all family members, and the person who shot them may still be in the area.
