Plans to redevelop the HJ McFarland Memorial Home property are moving forward after Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole voted to recommend that council continue consultations with the architect of the project for a new building and finalize a development plan with the Ministry of Long Term Care. The new facility will be 136,000 total square feet and have 160 beds, with approximately 850 square feet per resident bed.
Other features planned include adult day program spaces, a 1500 square foot multipurpose area, additional staff support space and catering space for meals on wheels service, and rental space for synergistic healthcare services.
The building is only 40 years old and it’s already obsolete? I guess we live in a throw away environment.
