Tory’s five-pillar plan includes expanding housing options by allowing greater mid-range density on major roads and in areas served by transit, and cutting red tape and speeding up approvals through a Development and Growth Division. Although mayors are currently only one vote on council, Tory supports a “strong mayor” bill currently before the Ontario legislature which would give the municipal leaders of both Toronto and Ottawa more power to implement their agendas.
