The Queensland government has flagged new education requirements to better protect consumers making the biggest purchase of their lives.

A rising number of complaints about real estate agents has prompted the Palaszczuk government to propose compulsory annual training sessions to ensure consumers are not being misled.

“The nature of the Queensland property market and the roles of property agents can create problems for consumers,” the paper states. “The magnitude of the problem appears significant enough to warrant regulatory attention,” the paper states.
