A Darwen-born veteran and railway enthusiast has come under fire for claiming some housing in his hometown 'needs flattening'.

Needs flattening and starting from scratch. It’s happened elsewhere in the town but the rate of progress is pitifully slow.
Councillor Kevin Connor, who represents the Marsh House ward on Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, said that while there are some pockets of housing which need improving, it's not always as simple as 'just knocking them down'.
