School torn down 2 years ago in Trenton

A plan by the City of Quinte West to allow an affordable apartment building in an older Trenton neighborhood is meeting with some opposition.

At a public meeting of the Quinte West Planning Advisory Committee Thursday staff presented a plan to build a 38 unit building on South Street, the site of the former College Street School. The building and property, if approved, would be owned and operated by the Hastings County Housing Division. Some residents told the committee the building wouldn’t fit into the neighborhood, which consists mainly of single family homes, and there were parking and traffic concerns.

No decision on the city’s application for rezoning was made but a staff recommendation will come to a future meeting.

Security tells mayoral candidate Gil Penalosa to leave city square mid-announcement | CBC NewsGil Penalosa, one of John Tory's main challengers for mayor in the upcoming municipal election, has released a housing platform that he says will deliver more affordable homes for Torontonians. Can’t believe no one commented on this!!! People need to start paying attention to Penalosa_G as he is the only credible candidate who is offering the potential for badly needed transformational change in Toronto. Brad Ross spinning this to be about permits. This is a mayoral candidate who advocates for equitable public space being shut down by a Mayor who basically doesn’t care about public space. Gil should just do press circuit in front of bathrooms, seeing as Tory closed all of them.
