Experts say remaining moisture and humidity levels in south-east Queensland have created the perfect breeding ground for mould, which can pose a significant health threat.

The warning comes as dozens of areas across the state are still recovering from devastating floods earlier this year.Residents across Australia's east coast are being asked to check their homes for mould as the country enters another La Nina event.Experts are urging people to check their homes for any small growths of mould to try to prevent further growth of the fungi.

It is best to look around and in cupboards, behind couches, behind bed heads, as well as outside the home.Experts advise residents to maintain as much airflow through their properties as possible following wet weather events and to eliminate any pools of water in a bid to prevent mould.
