How much it would cost to fix homelessness | michaelkoziol

Homelessness action groups want both major parties to commit to billions of dollars in funding for the issue ahead of the state election.

The new campaign from the state’s peak homelessness body, ahead of the March election, details a specific program to make social housing equate for 10 per cent of all NSW residential dwellings by 2050. It is currently 4.7 per cent, below the OECD average of 7.1 per cent, Homelessness NSW said. “They’ve been there for months and the services are doing everything they can. But there are no affordable rentals in the area, and there’s no social housing,” Jones said. “This is a question about what kind of state we want to live in. [It] is about investment now for a return in 2050. We need a government that can have vision.”

“This is a question about what kind of state we want to live in ... We need a government that can have vision.”The NSW government would provide $720 million a year to match the federal government’s promised Housing Australia Future Fund, paying for a total of 1800 extra social housing dwellings a year for the next five years. The peak body also calls for a $1.

It also calls for “inclusionary zoning” to be introduced by 2027, whereby the government would mandate that all new developments of more than 15 dwellings have at least 10 per cent social housing. For all projects on government land, it would be a minimum of 30 per cent social and affordable housing.

michaelkoziol The tactics used during the pandemic seemed to work. Why not t5ry that on a permanent basis?

michaelkoziol If you need urgent rental relief you should approach a public hospital mental healthcare unit because they get free accommodation and free meals others do why not NSWHEALTHCARE blacktownhospital

michaelkoziol The government has money. It also has unused land. They can build tiny houses on that land. Electricity would be solar.

michaelkoziol Wouldn't cost anything if greedy landlords were taken out of the picture!!!

michaelkoziol Twitter asks to update my profile. I went through. Nothing satisfying. Watching Australia squirm the APEC. This interesting.

michaelkoziol Let's have another election, and debate immigration BEFORE IT. Boycott all treasonous MSM.

michaelkoziol Clearly adding record numbers of Permanent migrants and unlimited numbers of international students that lobbyists want to give Permanent residency too, is only going to make the problem much worse. Time for the media to report on this.

michaelkoziol A fraction of the 240 billion AustralianLabor is spending on high income tax cuts. Simple decision for AlboMP 240 billion for high income tax cuts OR 240 billion invested in life changing essential services. auspoI billshortenmp tanya_plibersek JasonClareMP Mark_Butler_MP

michaelkoziol Nothing

michaelkoziol We need creative solutions for this growing problem. For starters, we must ditch the idea that everyone can have a 3 bedroom house on a quarter acre block.

michaelkoziol AlboMP is actively making it MUCH worse with his 1,000,000 migrants this year. A disgusting betrayal given his own background where the gov supported his family. Albo throwing similar families on the street for business profits😡 auspol HousingCrisis

michaelkoziol AlboMP & JEChalmers will gift 240 billion on high income tax cuts that includes themselves & millionaire CEO's. For the rest of us there is a cost of living crisis & essential services starved of funding from 9 years of LNP Govt. This ain't no Labor Govt abcnews SkyNewsAust
