57 homes will be available for rent and the remainder sold for shared ownership

Work has started on 82 affordable houses and flats on the former Virgin Media offices site, off Daleside Road, between Sneinton and Colwick. Affordable housing provider NCHA is working in partnership with GEDA construction, Nottingham City Council and Homes England.

The development will offer a mix of one-bed flats, and two and three-bedroom family homes, to support the housing need of the area. 57 homes will be available for affordable rent and 25 sold for shared ownership. The new homes have been designed by NCHA’s in-house architects, Pelham, and will be built to energy rating B.

“NCHA are a key delivery partner for affordable housing in Nottingham and is part of the city’s Homelink Partnership which means that the rent on affordable homes being built on this site will be available for people on the council’s housing waiting list.” Colm McVeigh, Associate Director at GEDA said: “GEDA is delighted to be delivering this project with NCHA. It is great to finally make a start on this scheme. This is a challenging and exciting project and we are looking forward to delivering 82 much-needed affordable properties for the local community.

London rents: Competition for homes pushes up pricesRising demand for homes combined with a falling supply has caused prices to increase to levels higher than before the pandemic. More people, non existent interest rates, property bought as an 'investment' caused 1000% increase in prices. 100s of 1000s of properties have been built over the past twenty years, many of which are of stupid prices because of the above. Meanwhile we import millions of people. Aren't lettings already ridiculously high? The quality of most London houses is far from standards, yet the average letting price forces people to share homes they otherwise couldn't afford. Not to mention agents asking for 1 year in advance.
